Hyundai HY2524 Air Compressor, direct drive 2.5hp electric motor, runs from standard 230v UK 13A plug. The 24L litre air tank is wheel mounted and easy to carry, weighing only 28kg.

The benefit of a direct drive air compressor are: low weight, compact size, high efficiency, low cost. If you are comparing this to the HYAB2550 for example, thi HY2524 has a the same size electric motor rated at 2.5hp, so the air flow is the same. The advantage of a belt drive air compressor is that the air compressor pump runs at around 40% of the spaeed of the motor. The motors normally run at 2850rpm in the UK. So a direct drive air compressor pump runs at 2850rpm while a belt drive air pump will run at approx. 1200 to 1400rpm. This gives belt drive air compressors a longer pump life. However, the cost is higher, they take up more room and are heavier.

The Sealey SAC5030VE air compressor is powered by a 230v, 3hp electric motor, with direct drive to a V-twin air compressor pump.

It’s a popular compressor model in the Sealey range and comes direct from UK supplier. The Sealey SA5030VE provides the best of both worlds – lightweight and compact – weighing only 37kg, yet with the 3hp V-twin induction motor and air pump it produces an air displacement of 11.6cfm (cubic ft/min), which is 328 litres per minute to you and me. It can be run from a standard household 13 amp plug, which is pre-wired to the machine. The air receiver tank is built to meet the stringent European Pressure Vessel Directive 87/404/EEC.
